Background Info: Domestic violence, or domestic abuse, is a “pattern of abusive behavior used in a relationship to gain control and power over an intimate partner” (Dolan & Zimmerman LLP). 24% of women aged 18 and older have been victim to severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. Many women who experience domestic violence are afraid to speak up about their situation, fearing their partners finding out, having to leave their partner, or even societal backlash.

Your task: Create a piece (artwork, writing, video, etc.) about domestic abuse. This is a complex topic, so be creative! Some ideas include a poem on women’s role in society, a painting of the fear women feel, a news article of domestic abuse statistics, or a short video explaining a personal story related to domestic abuse.
